DECEMBER 2010
Dear Friends,
Music IS the Universal Language!
It’s the language of the heart, shared profoundly across differences in class, culture and age. Music lights up the mind in more regions than any other human activity.
Science shows that making music is one of the healthiest things we do.
We all know how singing and listening can burst us into laughter, tears, and togetherness.
When we are welcomed to be ourselves, express our stories and sounds, and create together we change:
• A person veiled in dementia comes forth with melody for a brand new song
• A family caregiver witnesses a loved one’s fresh intelligence emerge despite memory loss
• A professional songwriter in service finds their musical world is forever expanded by the spontaneity and authenticity of their elder students
This is how Songwriting Works. We bring seasoned songwriters, elders and their families together to write their own songs and we need your help.
We’re in a year-end campaign to raise $10,000 by Dec 31st, 2010. The first $1,000 raised by midnight Dec 31st
will be MATCHED dollar for dollar. WE NEED $700 more to make the match!!
IF you believe music heals, please click this link and donate what you can:

Each donate button is a unique fundraiser's page with different photos, stories and videos.
Please donate to pages under $200 as the match requires 5 or more pages to reach $200/each. THANK YOU!!!!
Funds raised will go toward training more songwriters and caregivers to spark more musical
transformation in neighborhoods, nursing homes and communities around the country.
Help us succeed! Give $20 if you can. Give $10. Give $100. SPREAD THE WORD to 5 friends who love music.
