GET INVOLVED:

Thanks for your interest! There are many ways to participate in Songwriting Works and to help support our work.

 

  • Volunteer to assist with scribing at workshops, internet research, music transcription, and any number of creative and administrative tasks. Work with us on-site or long-distance.
  • Make a contribution of funds or services
  • Attend Songwriting Works’ workshops and trainings and apply tools, techniques and principles to enhance your own creativity and the creativity and music of the populations you serve.
  • Arrange for a talk, training or skills exchange with your professional music, arts, healthcare or education colleagues.
  • Become an advocate of creative aging by hosting a benefit concert, intergenerational exchange, or special event. Help Songwriting Works fulfill its mission to raise awareness of the role of music and arts in vital aging and everyone's well being by bringing our programs and songs into your community or classroom.
  • Host a screening of "A 'Specially Wonderful Affair"
  • Purchase the "Island on a Hill" CD
  • Initiate research or internship projects with Songwriting Works. The health and social benefits of Songwriting Works programs are beginning to be documented. Initial studies open further fields of inquiry for professionals and students in gerontology, biomusicology, the arts, and humanities. Topics include:
  • Music-making and memory
  • The impact of community songwriting on psyche, body, soul, and culture
  • Enhancing community and cross-cultural relations through song-making
  • Sacred songwriting as a form of pastoral care
