Co-founded by Judith-Kate Friedman and Rabbi Sheldon Marder in 2003, Psalms, Songs and Stories™ gives elders and others an opportunity to embark on an intensive journey into studying the Psalms and the power of song. Workshops combine SW’s signature songwriting approach with study and discussion of spiritual texts. Using music, poetry, visual art and movement, participants, often between age 80 and 100+– engage in spiritual inquiry and authentic expression from which new songs are then composed and shared. Songs are written in several in-depth sessions and may be performed for local and wider audiences, recorded or broadcast.
“My work with Judith-Kate Friedman is one of the highlights of my thirty years as a rabbi. I consider it a turning point in my work with Jewish elders.” Rabbi Sheldon Marder, Chaplain at the Jewish Home, San Francisco, co-founder of Psalms, Songs and Stories™
