Susan Duhan Felix & friends celebrate her mother in Song.
Judith-Kate Friedman and associates are available to compose songs and create musical
legacy projects with individuals, families and community agencies. Songs can be
composed one-to-one or in groups, in person, by phone, or at the occasion itself.
Completed songs can be recorded, transcribed, and/or shared in live performance.
- Individual sessions – Professional songwriters work 1:1 with individuals to bring out their
ideas for a song (lyrics, melody) and carry it through to fruition in completed form suitable
for performance
- Community projects: Songs Celebrating People – A celebrant’s loved ones, neighbors, or
colleagues join with a professional songwriter to compose a song in their honor. Songs
have been composed for:
- Milestone birthdays
- Retirement dinners
- B’nai mitzvot
- Rites of passage ceremonies
- Memorial services
- Legacy projects: Songs Celebrating People, Time & Place – Communities work with a
professional songwriter to create a legacy in song. Occassions have included:
- Culminating song for regional and local history projects
- Opening of a Community Garden
- Dedication of a Synagogue
- Composing a school’s first Alma Mater
- Setting elders’ poems and stories to music
- Honoring good deeds from neighbor to neighbor
A portion of song commission fees are donated to Songwriting Works, and may be tax-deductible.
